Dr. Jacob Drewes graduated in 1996 from the University of Findlay with a double major in biology and pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in chemistry. He attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in pursuit of a diverse education offering more surgical experience. It was there that he met Dr. Panzarella. At Ross University, Drs. Drewes and Panzarella won the small animal surgery award that is bestowed upon the top team of surgeons in each graduating class. Dr. Drewes completed his clinical year at the University of Missouri and also completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Drewes practiced from 2001-2013 as an emergency and critical care clinician and in general practice in Atlanta, Georgia, Ventura, California, and Sarasota, Florida, before joining Bayshore Animal Clinic. He worked closely with board-certified specialists in diverse fields such as internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, and surgery. This brings diverse experience to Bayshore Animal Clinic with exposure and treatment modalities for a wide variety of cases. His special interests are critical care, emergency, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, pain management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He is certified in bone plating and TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy). Dr. Drewes is a veterinarian for FEMA and was deployed twice to assist in the recovery following Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Drewes grew up in the Tampa area and enjoys the beauty of the gulf and the outdoors. He is a private pilot and enjoys boating, fishing, camping, scuba diving and most of all, spending time with his family.
Dr. Drewes is an active board member for the HAHF (Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation).
Dr. Panzarella received her bachelor’s degree in 1997 from Colorado State University, with a major in microbiology and a minor in music. She spent her senior year abroad at Swansea University in Swansea, Wales. Dr. Panzarella attended Ross School of Veterinary Medicine, with her fourth-year clinical rotation at the University of Missouri. To further her education she completed a one year medical and surgical internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio. In addition to general practice, Dr. Panzarella has worked in emergency and critical care for 12 years at 24-hour referral and specialty hospitals. She also spent the last 3 years as a staff veterinarian at a feline specialty practice and loves cats! She served as a board member for the Santa Barbara and Ventura Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Panzarella’s areas of interest include feline medicine, pain management, soft tissue surgery, geriatric care, and general wellness. Dr. Panzarella assisted in the design of footwear worn by the rescue dogs in the 911 aftermath and founded “Paws For Peace”, a non-profit organization that raised money for abandoned pets post 911. She strives to treat every patient as if it was her own.
Drs. Panzarella and Drewes have owned Bayshore Animal Clinic since 2012. They have two sons who love animals and nature. In 2015, they rescued two yellow labs from Southeast Guide Dogs, AJ, and Cotton, that had medical issues. They share their home with “Oz”, a bearded dragon, and Luciana “the poodle”. The poodle is up front helping in reception at BAC almost every day. Come say hi!
When she is not at Bayshore Animal Clinic, Dr. Panzarella enjoys spending time with her family, running, yoga, international travel, snowboarding and is learning to play the guitar.
Dr. Panzarella is active in the education of children and enjoys speaking to children about veterinary medicine. She is also a board member for the HAHF (Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation). She is passionate about Vets4pets, a local non-profit created by the HAHF, that helps low income and indigent families with low-cost veterinary care.
Dr. Eric Bucki graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 2000 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Additionally, he received training in acupuncture from the Chi Institute of Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Reddick, Florida. After graduation, Dr. Bucki moved to South Florida where he worked as an associate in general practice in Boca Raton for 1 year and Royal Palm Beach for 11 years. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but his passions include internal medicine, dentistry, soft tissue and reconstructive skin surgery. He is a member of the AVMA, FVMA and UF Alumni Association.
Dr. Bucki was born and raised in Miami. He is an admirer of the sunshine and the warm weather. Whenever he gets a chance, Dr. Bucki enjoys spending his time in the outdoors. His activities include kayaking, going to the beach and exploring the natural beauty of Florida. He also enjoys cooking, playing the piano, going to the gym and spending time with his dog Mirko.
Dr. Serena Bloom is a Florida native from the east coast who moved to the Tampa Bay area in 2015. She joined the Bayshore Animal Clinic team in May 2018. She is excited to meet new furry friends and their families.
Dr. Bloom is a two-time Gator Graduate, earning her undergraduate degrees and doctorate from the University of Florida. She finished her undergraduate career with a Summa Cum Laude degree in Art History, a Cum Laude degree in Zoology and a minor in International Studies. She pursued multiple interests including animal behavior, conservation, non-western body arts, 18th-century European painting, alligator overwintering behavior, and Italian high Renaissance painting, before eventually finding her passion in Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Bloom is dedicated to treating every pet like family and providing the best possible care for her patients. Her special interests include preventative medicine, the human-animal bond, behavior, dentistry and hospice care; although she is always finding more.
In her spare time, Dr. Bloom enjoys playtime with her own pets: Chewbacca, a Catahoula/American Bulldog mix, Yeti “The Abominable Snowman”, a furry white cat and Thumper “The Pirate Bunny,” a one-eyed, bob-tailed cat. Her hobbies also include cooking, art, reading, traveling and discovering new adventures and restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.
Dr. Kelin Libretti is a proud Florida native who recently returned to Tampa Bay. Dr. Libretti attended the University of Florida and graduated with honors with a major in Animal Science in 2011. She continued her love for the Gators by earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to her doctorate in veterinary medicine, she completed two certificate programs in Veterinary Business Management and Maddie’s Shelter Medicine.
After graduating from vet school, Dr. Libretti worked in private practice in Tampa Bay for about 2 years until she and her husband relocated to Connecticut where she spent her time practicing shelter medicine. Dr. Libretti and her husband missed the sun and warmth and recently returned to Tampa.
Dr. Libretti enjoys numerous aspects of veterinary medicine but is excited to continue to pursue her passion in dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry by frequently attending continuing education conferences. She also believes in treating her patients with honesty and compassion and views all animals as part of the family.
In her free time, Dr. Libretti enjoys attending Gators football games, kayaking, and spending time with her husband, Brian, and dog, Paris. She is also an avid runner and is a proud member of the Run Tampa running club.
Dr. Adair Duvall grew up in Roanoke, Virginia where her father practiced veterinary medicine. She used to watch him perform surgery and knew one day she’d grow up to do the same.
Adair then headed to Richmond, Virginia where she graduated with honors in Biology and Chemistry. After college, she then went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University in 2013.
Adair enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially communicating with clients and getting to know her patients and their individual needs.
In her spare time, Adair enjoys trying new restaurants, watching good TV shows with her husband, and doing arts and crafts with her 2 toddlers Parker and Emery.
Dr. Maddy was born and raised in Rochester, NY, where she attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated with a bachelor's in Biology in 2016. After college, she then went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University and completed her clinical year at the University of Florida in 2019.
Dr. Maddy loves all aspects of the veterinary field. Additionally, she has a passion for feline medicine. Her favorite part about being a general practitioner is establishing relationships with her clients and their pets. Serving her community in this way helps her make the best recommendations for her patients based on the specific needs of the pets and their families.
Dr. Maddy shares her home with a rescue Frenchie named Rue and 2 cats named Zippo and Small. In her free time, Dr. Maddy loves spending time at the beach, catching up on her favorite shows, and working out.
Dr. Maddy is genuinely excited to be a part of this new adventure at Bayshore Animal Clinic and to provide the compassionate care your pets deserve.
Management
Ashley has always had a passion for animals throughout her life and decided to go to school to fulfill her dream. Ashley graduated from Fox College Veterinary Technician Institute in Illinois in 2012 and has been working as a Certified Veterinary Technician ever since. She enjoys helping animals of all shapes and sizes. Ashley has an interest in animal behavior and one day hopes to be a Certified Animal Behaviorist. When Ashley is away from work, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Ginger. She also loves being in the outdoors, going to the beach to soak up the sun’s rays and splash in the water.
Laura graduated from the Hillsborough Community College Veterinary Technology program in 2017 and is now a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has always had a passion to care for animals and treats them as if they were her own pets. Laura currently shares her home with Carmella, a veiled chameleon, Alice, a crazy feline, and her old pup, Roxy. Laura enjoys spending time with her family, especially her niece, Lily. On the weekends, she can be found at one of the Walt Disney World Parks!
Megan grew up in New Jersey, moved to Orlando in 2017, and then to the Tampa area in July of 2018. She graduated from Wilson College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Equestrian Studies and a Minor in Animal Studies. Megan began her post college career working at a dressage barn in Orlando helping with the daily care and medical care of the horses. Since moving to Tampa, she has decided to pursue her passion of working in the veterinary field. She has been working in the Veterinary field for four and a half years and has been a member of the Bayshore Family for 4 years. During her free time, Megan enjoys horseback riding and competing in horse shows. She and her husband also enjoy spending time with friends and doing outdoor activities such as hiking. At home she has five fur babies; two cats, Belle and Penguin, whom she adopted from a shelter in Orlando, two chinchillas, Abby and Chernobyl, and a German Shepherd named Steele.
Heather grew up in a small town in Missouri where she had 2 dogs and 3 cats most her life. She has been working with animals since she was 15 years old starting with kennel work and grooming. In her free time, she makes art and reads. Heather started working in vet med in 2019. She moved to Tampa About 8 months ago where she started at Bayshore Animal Clinic. Heather loves to care for animals and plans to finish school this year to progress in her career. Heather has 3 small dogs and a hamster at home.
Patient Care Team
Meleigh was born and raised in Abilene, TX. Working with animals was something she grew up around and has always had a passion for. She started working as a veterinary technician in 2015 for a mixed practice vet in her hometown, and ever since then her love for animals has only grown stronger. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences with a pre-veterinarian emphasis from Tarleton State University. She has worked with small, large, and exotic animals. Her ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian and continue helping animals. She joined the Bayshore Team as a Veterinary Technician in August of 2021. When she is not working you can find her with her husband playing with their dog, Willow.
Aleks has worked in the veterinary field since 2011, she loves all animals-large and small. Aleks has ridden horses since childhood and competes all over the nation in the hunter/jumper circuit. Aleks is working on a degree in biology and strives to continue learning as much as possible in veterinary medicine.
Aiden has been in VetMed since April of 2018, beginning as a kennel tech/hospital assistant. He fell in love with the field and has decided to pursue a career as a veterinary technician. After joining BAC in early 2020, he has found a passion for surgery through aiding in dental procedures and soon hopes to assist in bigger surgical procedures. He plans on going to school to become a certified veterinary technician but is also considering vet school in the future.
Devyn was born and raised in Stuart, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with a bachelors in biology and a minor in chemistry. She has grown up around animals and started working in the veterinary field when she was 16 years old. She has experienced with small animals, equine and some wildlife. She moved to Tampa and joined our Bayshore Animal Clinic Team in August 2021. She has 3 fur-babies: a Bengal named Lina, tabby named Rajah and a Golden Retriever named Dino. She is a big foodie and when she is not at work, she enjoys exploring new places with her husband.
Olivia grew up in northern New Jersey with 2 dogs, a parrot, and a surplus of rabbits and fish over the years. In her free time she studies for school and works on training her dog, Peaches, to be a service animal. Olivia started working in veterinary medicine in 2020 when she moved to Tampa to attend college and joined the Bayshore team in the spring of 2022. Olivia has always loved animals and plans to apply to vet schools during the summer of 2024. Olivia currently has a dog and a cat and is hoping to rescue an addition to the family in the near future!
Jaymi was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Chamberlain High School in 2010, where she fell in love with the veterinary field, taking vet assistant classes and joining FFA. After volunteering at various shelters, Jaymi decided to permanently choose a vet tech career 5 years ago, loving every minute of it. She enjoys just about any activity outdoors, especially when her fur baby, Makeba the Wheaton Terrier, is along with her.
Favi was born and raised in Dorado, Puerto Rico. She will be graduating from the University of Tampa in 2023 with a bachelors in biology. Favi is an avid kiteboarder and has represented Puerto Rico in Italy, China, and the Dominican Republic in competitive races. She shares her home with her sweet cat Ida Bean. Her and Ida enjoy sunset evenings at the beach together.
Amelis started with us at BAC in 2022, but has been in the veterinary field for about 5 years. She has had animals all her life. From a young age, she knew she always wanted to work with them. At home, she has one dog and one cat. Her favorite thing about being a veterinary technician is seeing improvement in her patient’s quality of life after being sick.
Client Care Team
It has always been her passion to work in the veterinary field and she loves seeing everyone’s pets. She wants every pet to have an amazing experience when they see the vet, so your pet might receive extra treats when she sees them. She is ecstatic to be joining our team and cannot wait to meet and greet every pet that comes in the door.
During Megan’s free time, her and her fiancé play with their two cats, Goot and Kirby. She also enjoys going to Busch Gardens to ride all of the roller coasters, but especially her favorite, Montu!
Devina was born and raised in Tampa and, since she was a child, she has always had a love for all animals, big and small. She is currently in school, working to obtain her degree in Animal Science and Wildlife Biology. She began working in the veterinary field to gain experience and learn more about the field to help aide her in her major. She enjoys going to zoos and rehabilitation centers to help fund their conservation and rehab efforts. During her free time, she shares a home with four cats; Luna, Boots, Duke, and Duchess along with her dog, Poochie. On the weekends, you may find her at Disney or taking a stroll down Bayshore Boulevard.
Abbey was born and raised in Brandon, FL. She has had a passion for small animals since she was a young girl growing up with many different species. She graduated from Hillsborough Community College in 2019, obtaining her Certification in Veterinary Technology. She volunteered in veterinary services at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center during college and worked for two years as a certified veterinary technician in Riverview, FL. She shares her home with her beagle, NaNa; her cat, Sarah; and her bunnies. Rabbits are her love, of which she currently has three by the names of Daniel, Pongo, and Zinnia. When she is not caring for her beloved critters, Abbey enjoys candle making, bowling, working on her car, and traveling with her husband.
Cameron was raised in Florida and is a Tampa native. She has always had a love for animals and enjoys spending time with her three rescue kitties Bella, Binx and Impa. Cami is a huge advocator for color coded notes and annotating books. On the weekends she enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time at the park with her boxer, Ruger.
Luciana “aka the poodle” is our resident greeter and can be found at the front desk welcoming new and existing families. The Panzarella-Drewes family shared their home with “Dagmar”, a Great Dane, and “AJ” and “Cotton”, two Southeast guide dogs with medical issues, prior to Poodle’s addition.
Our son, Luca, chose her name, Luciana, which is similar to his name. She was so tiny when they got her that he would say, “Where’s the poodle?”. So, she responds now to “Poodle”!
She loves being up front and spending the day with her coworkers whom she adores. She can be found at home in the evenings stealing and playing with socks and running around with one of her stuffies in her mouth. She has been known to eat a lego or nerf bullet on occasion. Come say hello to “the poodle”! She just might give you a kiss.
